Hidden Cities – 2022 Pitch Final
Watch David Rosenthal's pitch from the ARC 2022 Pitch Final and learn more about the Hidden Cities apps that offer mobile storytelling on historic maps
Hidden Cities utilises first-person interpretation, more commonly known as living history, and has developed into history installations in the streets that resemble situated theatre. The idea is for users to not only be accompanied or guided by a contemporary historical figure, but to actually go to the same places and see the same buildings and objects as they did. This allows the embodied experience of people in the past to be in a dialogue with the embodied experience of the person using the app in the present.
The apps currently operate in six cities: Hamburg, Deventer, Trento, Exeter, Valencia and Florence. They will expand to Copenhagen, Venice and Tours over the next few months.
